How To Control Whether You Get Hired or Fired

It is no secret that times are difficult right now. Unemployment has skyrocketed, businesses are struggling to stay open and employees are stressed, wondering if they will still have a job by next week.
This fear has made many employees believe they aren’t in control of their own working status and financial situation anymore. That doesn’t have to be the case. It is time to take the control back.
If you are looking for job security, it is time to buckle down and show that you are an asset to the company.
No, I am not just talking about doing great at your job.
I am talking about doing everything great. Do more than just your daily tasks and workload. Go above and beyond for your company. Hold yourself to a higher standard and your work will be noticed.
Go into work every single morning with the mindset that this is your business. Then ask yourself, what can you do to today to improve it? How can you bring more money in? What needs to be done more efficiently?
When you think like this, you are thinking like an entrepreneur.
The key thing to remember here is stay focused on the bigger picture for the company. A good place to start, is really thinking about how you can bring more money into the business.
How can you improve your sales strategy to sell more? Can you come up with a solution to fix that one machine that has thousand dollar mistakes? If you can be the answer to a probl
Whatever position you are in for the company, dig deep and do your research. Find a money sucking problem and see if you can improve it.
“How to make fewer mistakes on the corrugator” “Most effective advertising in the market” “How to successfully upsell as a mechanic”
Google the problem, educate yourself and develop a strategy. Winners create results that exceed company goals and get the job done.
Show your loyalty for the company and radiate passion for the job. Be enthusiastic in your work and dialogue with employees. Your attitude has a much larger impact than you think.
The second thing to do is never stop improving. Go into every day challenging yourself to be 1% better than what you were yesterday. If you improve by 1% each day for a year, you will not notice the person you once were.
For example, let’s say you are a machine assistant. Don’t just go through the motions. Take it upon yourself to really learn the machine. Become an EXPERT on that machine. Perform your set-ups as quickly as possible and double check everything is correct. Learn from the operator and anticipate his needs. Become the best crew in your plant, you will quickly be noticed and opportunity for growth will come your way!
Ask yourself questions like, is there a more efficient way to operate this? Then find the answers. Do your research!
Whatever your job may be, make it your goal to be the best.
If you aren’t the best at operating the machine yet, find the person who is and learn from them. There is no shame in wanting to improve yourself. Your team will recognize this, appreciate your dedication, and teach you tricks they have learned over the years.
Once you feel you are an “expert”, don’t stop there. Continue researching, continue learning and always stay curious.
Make it your goal to walk the extra mile every chance you get for the sake bettering yourself and you will be noticed.
Do more than what is expected of you out of your passion for the self development and doors will open.
New opportunities will present themselves.
This is how you move up the ladder.
A quote that I like to follow is “everything you do, do it great.” It doesn’t matter what job you have or what your role is, it is YOUR job. It is YOUR opportunity to do great and stand out.
